What is the best sushi to try for a first timer?

I’ve had sushi before but it was something simple. Like shrimp and crab meat wrapped in sushi rice and sesame seeds. It was tasty but i would like to venture out a little. I do know i don’t like wasabi or the pickled ginger.

California rolls. Spicy Tuna are great!

  3. hhmmm… sushi is one of the best food around. Even in it’s Americanized state. Most of the sushi you see here is not traditional, though it’s pretty tasty.

Something to venture out… Try a Spider Roll, usually a tempura wrapped something. Could be softshell crab could be shrmip, very tasty.

Also a Caterpillar roll, usually a few different types of fish with avocado, some places put "eel" sauce on it! It’s actually some sweet sauce like Tonkatsu sauce, very tasty!

Philly rolls are good, Salmon and cream cheese!!

Spicy Tuna is good or anything with tuna. Get the Toro cut of tuna, very tasty. Also anything with yellowtail (hamachi).

Some places have a item called the Dynamiteand it generally features scallops.

But if you are feeling super adventurous…. try uni!

  6. Try the egg (tamago) or smoked salmon sushi. You may ask the chef to reduce or eliminate the wasabi.
