What kind of wine would be good with Italian food?

I have a dinner date tomorrow. Hes cooking Italian, and I’m brining wine. But, what kind of wine should I bring? I’ve honestly haven’t had much wine. So don’t know much about it.

Any suggestions?

Depends on the dish but at the end of the day you gotta drink it so buy what you like.
You can’t please all the people all the time so why bother?

  4. There are all kinds of RULES that people say you should follow but the one i always try to stick to is the countrys food usually goes quite well with the countrys wine. So my suggestion would be to go to a local store and ask the clerk for a decent bottle of Italian red and white .

    There are so many great Italian wines, they are made to drink with food.

    Red sauces:
    Chianti
    Tempranillo
    Sangiovese
    Barbera – OK, I know it’s Spanish, but I just love it with food.

  6. I agree with the Italian Food then serve Italian Wine theory… If he’s making something with a red sauce go with a Chianti.. if it’s a white sauce go with a Pino Grigio

  7. well the basic rule is: white wine for delicate food (fish, vegetables, etc), red wine for tasty food (pork, roasts, etc.), rose wine for quite tasty food (chicken, formage, etc.)

    I tell you my preferences:

    white wine: Pecorino, tocai, vermentino, verdicchio
    red wine: nero d’avola, refosco, nebbiolo, barolo.
    rose wine: cerasuolo, Lacryma Christi
