What Ethiopian food is closest to an American food?
I have to go to an ethiopian restaurant so what is the closest to an american food in Ethiopia and what food is it closest to.
Not much of it is. It’s 5 billion times more flavorful and more interesting than most American food so don’t worry.
If you eat meat, I would recommend zil zil tibs, which is basically a cubed rare steak simmered in a light pepper sauce in a butter. When I still ate meat, I loved that stuff. It’s not all that "weird" and is good. Also, yebeg wot, which is cubed lamb that is in a very rich, flavorful, kind of smokey red sauce.
For veggies, most places have a vegetarian plate or platter that let you sample every veggie they have. Get that. Most of the veggie dishes will be lentils or garbanzo beans in a variety of different aromatic sauces, all of which are delicious.
They also have collard greens, which are found in soul food.
Be adventurous. I have eaten at an ethiopian restaurant, and the food is very good.
Be prepared to eat without silverware. When I went, we had several stew like dishes that were served family style on a huge flat platter. The stews were piled on top of a huge piece of flat bread.
Each person is given rolls of a spongy bread. You rip off a piece of bread and use it to grab the stew.
Some of the stews are spicy and some are mild.

Dare to try something that does not even remotely resemble anything that you have ever eaten before.

Huge fan of Ethiopian food.
I’m Ethiopian and there aren’t a lot of foods close to American food. That doesn’t mean that the food is bad. You are going to eat with your hands. The flat, spongy bread they’re talking about is called injera. for the "stew", I suggest doro wet.
Don’t you wanna try something new? That’s the whole reason why you’re going to the restaurant.
